Dave Cahoon, lead pastor
If you have ever been hurt or disillusioned by church people, then you need to get to know Dave and his wife, Mell. Unassuming and genuine, Dave and Mell aspire to follow in the footsteps of Jesus, offering a safe place for all of God's children to heal and grow. They love people and are passionate about others receiving and living in God's grace. Dave considers it a high compliment when people are surprised to find out that he is a minister.
"Christ came not to establish a religion," he says, "but to restore a relationship with God that was lost due to sin. My goal is to help people connect with God in tangible and meaningful ways."
Dave's goal for Mt. Olivet is for the church "...to be a community of believers who are moving closer to God each day. I have no desire to be a religious institution. We are about joining God where He is at work in our community and the world."
In addition to serving alongside her husband, Mell works as a full-time clinical nurse liaison and embraces this as an opportunity to minister to patients and families.
Danny Knarr, community connections minister
If you attend many school athletics or events in our community, then you have most assuredly seen Danny. For wherever people gather in our community--Danny is there. And though he shies away from this truth, he carries "rock-star" status among children in our community (we think because children are generally good judges of character).
Danny believes more in "Family" ministry than children and teen ministry. Recognizing his focus is more with "working with parents and families as they are the greatest influence on the lives of the young."
"It is our desire to partner with families and parents in bringing up their children," Danny says, "equipping, supporting and encouraging them along the way."
Danny loves people beginning with the most important people in his life: his wife, Angie, three wonderful children, Julie, Kyle and Bethany, and the newest addition to the family, granddaughter Ella.
Angie Knarr, ministry assistant
"I have the best job in the world," says Angie. "I get to work in the ministry doing what I love and serve the Lord at the same time. Everyday is an adventure with God and presents new challenges and blessings. God is definitely at work in His Church."
Angie is married to Danny and has three children, Julie, Kyle and Bethany, and a sweet little blessing, granddaughter Ella.
Kristie Caldwell, administrative assistant
If you ever call the church office most likely you will speak to Kristie and will discover quickly what a gentle heart she has for people and the Lord's work.
"My hope," Kristie says, "is that people coming to Mt. Olivet will experience God's grace, truly learn what forgiveness means, and will strive to love and pray for one another. "
Kristie is married to Jerry and has two sons, Kyle and Jordan.
